Aandaal, one of the twelve Alvars in Tamil tradition, was a revered poet-saint who composed the Tiruppavai and Nachiyar Tirumozhi, embodying devotion, love, and spiritual wisdom. Though Tamil culture is resplendent with stalwarts like Kambar, Avvaiyar and Valluvar, Aandaal was a little girl when she created endearing literature and deserves to be celebrated. Her works transcend time, inspiring millions with their poetic beauty and profound spiritual messages. Today, her legacy represents the essence of Tamil culture, art, and heritage.
The Aandaal Project is a fitting monument for a young girl uniquely remembered by generations for 1,500 years for her vedic wisdom revealed in immortal poetry. The project will honour her legacy by revitalising Tamil heritage and addressing modern challenges. By celebrating her contributions, we aim to preserve Tamil culture, promote sustainable development, and inspire future generations to embrace their roots. This project is not just about the past; it is about creating a lasting impact for the future.

About 1500 years ago the young Godhai of Srivilliputhur, known as Aandaal, learned from the Puranas that Varuna was the lord of the seas and Indra was the lord of the rains. When Godhai and the girls in the village celebrated the traditional Paavai Nobu in Marghazhi to solicit rains and prosperity, she had an idea.
Gothai imagined herself and her friends to be the innocent Gopis of Aayarpadi, who were very dear to Lord Krishna, and prayed to him to carry out the task of bringing the abundant water in the seas to the sky as clouds to shed water on the earth.
Oh Krishna, Lord of the seas and the rains — First get into the womb of the deep sea and take plenty of water, rise up in the sky with thunders. Bring forth rains in abundance without any cessation, for the good of the whole world so that the world flourishes.
The immediate aim of The Aandal Project is to solve the water scarcity in Chennai by developing the Champarampakkam Lake as a storage of rain water and desalinated sea water produced through Solar/Wind powered units.
The ultimate aim is to expose and showcase to the world the spiritual, cultural and literary heritage of several millenniums of Tamil Nadu, of which the Thiruppavai of Aandaal, sung and revered by millions of Tamils even today is all but the tip of the iceberg!
The Aandaal Project will resurrect and educate the world of the spiritual, cultural and literary heritage hidden in the Tamil and Sanskrit creations of the 12 Alwars, 63 Nayanars and a host of Saints like Adi Sankara, Ramanuja, Vedanta Desikan, Madhavachyara and others, through educational and entertainment media creations aided by technology.
The Aandaal Project will generate the investment by release of a crypto currency named ANDAL and the recurring revenue from operating a top tourist enterprise, for the development of water resources for the needy in the entire world.
The Champakamparam lake near Chennai will be developed by excavating to maximum depth and all around stainless steel piling, as a clean water storage for greater Chennai extending up to Sriperambadur.
The lake will serve as a rain water storage and a buffer for flood control using Artificial Intelligence based control system and dedicated rain water collection and flood water lift network around Chennai.
Desalinated sea water produced through solar powered units will replenish water levels and a canal and lift system will supply area up to Sriperumbadur.
The excavated soil will be used to build a surrounding landscape with a ring transport, botanical gardens and promenades replicating ancient Tamil culture and life for tourism.
At the centre of The Aandaal Project will be a statue of Aandaal which will be the focal point for tourism in Southeast Asia. Subject to Government approvals, the Statue will be built in the centre of the Chempakambaram lake near Chennai, facing Sriperambadur and Kancheevaram.
The size and height of the statue will be determined to suit the geological and environmental limitations, to be visible from a radius covering nearby Sriperumbadur, the birth place of Ramanuja, Aandaal's most ardent benefactor.
The most striking feature of the statue will be a flush down and spray of water from the top of the statue with amazing laser display, marking every hour of the day. The water dispersion will simulate rain Aandaal prayed for.
If there is ONE literary creation which enthrals millions of people to still recite it in its original version after 1500 years, for its simplicity, beauty and depth of wisdom and devotion, and brings tears of bliss in their eyes every time they do, it is Aandaal's Thiruppavai.
Each of the thirty Paasurams (stanza) of Thiruppavai, sung by millions of Tamil and Telugu speaking people during the month of Maarghazhi (December-January) is a literary piece of work sans comparison.
The Aandaal Thiruppavai carousal will take the visitors through this unique experience of singing along each of the Pasurams through the artistic and high tech visualisation of the subject of each paasuram. The multi language audio visual experience will offer a hither to unheard of touristic, educational fantasy over three hours carousal trip.
Aandaal dreamt of marrying Lord Ranganaathan of Srirangam (Maha Vishnu) and sang ardently about her dream in her Naachiyaar Thrumozhi. The legend has it that Aandaal eventually married the Lord and disappeared in his sanctum at Srirangam.
Aandaal Kalyanam will offer this wonderful Marriage experience in a facility under the statue to any couple visiting and wanting to get married or remarried to experience the ecstasy of Aandaal.
A personalised function for each couple and their guests will be conducted in the vedic and Tamil tradition, complete with Tamil style attire, ornaments, beauty treatment, music and marriage feast. Aandaal Kalyanam will be the top Romantic attraction of world tourism.
Aandaal sang about a Maathavi Panthal (Pergola) with many varieties of birds chirping happily. The reclaimed land around the lake will be developed as the most romantic botanical gardens where tourist can experience what inspired Aandaal thousands of years ago to write her Thiruppavai.
The gardens will emulate the famous Kew Gardens in London and will be housed in covered building under controlled ambience. The Aandaal Maathavi Pandal will provide the visitors and local residents a location to relax and enjoy the beauty of Nature closest as possible.
Aandaal Promenades will be the truest recreation of the life and times of Aandaal, in the middle of the first Millennium CE, highlighting how highly developed and culturally rich the Tamil civilisation was at that time.
Tamil theruvus (Streets), agrahaarams, temples, gardens, cattle farming, agriculture and festivals of 4-5th century Tamil Nadu will be recreated for visitors to wander about and get a real feel.
Statues and works of the Tamil Hindu renaissance leaders like the 12 Alwars and 63 Nayanars will be placed along the ring way around the lake where visitors can learn about how Tamil language and culture developed into the high status in the past millenniums.

This innovative canal system, inspired by the historic British Canal model, is designed to distribute water efficiently from the Aandaal Lake to upstream locations, including Sriperumbudur. Utilizing elevated storage levels and advanced lift systems, the canal ensures a sustainable water supply while addressing critical water management needs.
Beyond its functional purpose, the canal transforms into a unique tourist attraction. Visitors can enjoy leisurely boat rides along its scenic routes, stopping at vibrant locations to experience Tamil Nadu's rich culinary traditions and cultural heritage.
